Dressing up your pet for Halloween is quite a controversial topic.
Alexandra Horowitz, a dog expert who teaches psychology, animal behavior and canid cognition at Barnard College in New York, says that while dressing up the dog for Halloween may delight the owner, the dog most likely is not amused.
While Alexandra Horowitz, author of “Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell and Know,” notes, though, that the experience of wearing a costume isn’t “entirely torturous” for your pet.

Why? He gets your attention, probably extra treats, and extra pets. There is little as nourishing to a dog as the attention of his owner. Your pets live for your love. They depend on us to feed them, give them water, take them on walks and dress them up for football games, Christmas and Halloween. Your dog or cat gains something valuable. He gets more of your love and attention.
Halloween 2022 Top Costumes for Your Pet
According to the National Retail Federation for 2021, “one in five intended to dress their pet up for Halloween this year,” with the top costumes forecasted for 2022 being “a pumpkin (9%), a hot dog (5%), a bat (4%), a bumblebee (3%) and a witch (3%).”
So, what does the other 76% of those planning on pet dress up intend on costuming their pet?
